Outstanding Faculty Award

Selection Committee

The Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) would have the responsibility of reviewing the nomination forms and compiling a list of nominated faculty. They would then assemble the Outstanding Faculty Award Committee (OFAC) by contacting the appropriate organizations and having them select rotating representatives. The committee would be composed of:
  • 2 Full time Faculty (who were not nominated for the award. These should be previous award winners when possible). One would have the responsibility of convening the meeting.
  • 1 Classified Staff
  • 1 Part-time Staff
  • 1 Administrator or administrative faculty
  • 1 Full Time Student
  • 1 Graduate of CVCC

The OFAC's responsibilities would be to examine the nomination forms, select a recipient of the award by majority vote, and write a brief description of why the person was selected. This information should remain confidential and only be communicated to the President of the College.

Nomination Process

The ERC would make nomination forms available to everyone affiliated with the college. Completed forms would be sent to the Human Resources Office for collection and held until the nomination deadline, at which time they would be forwarded to the ERC.

Selection Criteria

The OFAC would review the nomination forms and select the recipient based on the number of nominations and the criteria listed below. While the OFAC could use any specific weighting they think appropriate to determine the recipient, it is suggested that each item below be weighted as noted.
  • Excellence and Innovation in teaching (50%)
  • Service to college (30%)
  • Service to the community (20%)

Additionally, the faculty member selected should have worked at the college for a minimum of three years, and would not be eligible again for five years after receiving the award.

The Award

The Outstanding Faculty Award would be given at the graduation ceremony by the president of the college. It would include a special medallion to be worn at future graduation ceremonies, a wall plaque for office display, and $500.
