Licensing Training

 

 

This 20 hour course is designed to provide a basic understanding of business management subjects for contractor license applicants so that they may be successful in business as well as in taking the A and/or B contractor licensing exams in Virginia. This course is divided into two sections with the first part dealing with business and project management subjects relevant to contractors everywhere while the second part focuses on the unique contracting requirements of Virginia.  During the course, participants learn how to avoid business failure by learning good managing practices.  They also become familiar with useful reference books and materials including the NASCLA manual and Virginia Rules and Regulations that are allowed in the open-book A and B examinations.

 

 

Highlights of Course Content:

 

§  Basic overview of the Code of Virginia, regulations; and how it empowers the Board for Contractors

§  Standards of Practice Conduct, and Prohibited Acts

§  Top eight violations by contractors

§  Basic requirements of employment law

§  Establishing a company in Virginia

Included in the cost of the course is the NASCLA Manual – Contractors Guide to Business, Law and Project Management, Virginia, 6th Edition, which is

a resource for practicing in the profession of contracting.  It contains regulations governing contracting and directions detailing where to obtain additional information about registering a company, taxes and other pertinent subjects.
