Computer Skill Requirements
A student should
- Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of computing concepts, in order to accomplish required tasks.
- Be familiar with Microsoft Office applications
- Have a working knowledge of the internet
- Be able to send and retrieve E-mail

NOTE: These hardware requirements are general and apply to most courses.
Requirements may vary for some courses. While slower processors and RAM may
be functional, they are not recommended. Some browsers not listed may work,
but are not supported.
Software Requirements
- Browser:
Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher or Safari 2.0 or higher or Firefox 2.0 or higher

- VCCS Student E-Mail and Blackboard Account
- Microsoft Word (2000 or higher)
- Additional software as required by course instructor (Check with your instructor)
- Plugins
NOTE: Plugin requirements vary for each course; however the following
list of plugins and links to obtain free downloads will accommodate most
courses at CVCC:

- Antivirus Software
Due to the prevalence of files that are infected with worms and computer
virus on the Internet, we encourage students to run antivirus software on
their computers. It is also important to make sure that the antivirus
software is updated on a regular basis (at least once a week, once a day.)
Here are some recommended antivirus software products:
- Spyware Scanners
We also recommend running an anti-spyware software program to detect and
remove software programs that generate pop-up ads and slow down computer
systems. Here is a list of good anti-spyware software programs available
that are free to download:
