netLibrary eBooks

netLibrary is a shared collection of academic ebooks from major university, trade and professional publishers. The CVCC Library shares this ebook collection with 600 other colleges and universities in the United States. The collection is available through the Web to Central Virginia Community College students, faculty, and staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from any location worldwide. Scholarly reference materials, monographs, and consumer publications have been digitized so that users can access books without physically coming to the CVCC Library.

How do I access netLibrary?
To check out titles from the collection, you must first create an account with netLibrary at one of the computers on the main campus at CVCC. This account is separate from the account used to access other databases from off campus and cannot be created from a home or work computer.

Go to the netLibrary webpage
Click on "create a free account" in the upper right corner of the page.

If you have any questions, please come by the library and we will help you.

Once an account has been established at the main campus, you will be able to read an ebook online from your home computer, a campus computer, or a laptop.

How long can ebooks be checked out?
netLibrary ebooks can be checked out for a four hour period. If there are no other requests, a book can be checked out for an additional two hour period. Duplicate copies in the collection provide greater access to the more popular editions of ebooks.

What is the difference between the Library Collection and the Public Collection on netLibrary?
The Library Collection is the 2,200+ ebooks purchased by CVCC. The Public Collection includes a large collection of books that are free and accessible to anyone. There is a check box under the search screen on the netLibrary home page that allows the searcher to include both collections in the search.
