Wennerstrom Launches CVCC Bedford Center’s First Art Exhibit
Bedford, VA /Media Release/ -- The CVCC Bedford Center is hosting it’s first “in lobby” featured artist exhibition with the works of photographer Ed Wennerstrom. The exhibit includes a wide range of floral macro and area scenic photography. There are also computer generated abstracts including faux acrylics, charcoals, and watercolors. Wennertrom’s art is currently on display for free public viewing and will continue to run at the Center through February 12.
Wennerstrom’s interest in photography got started in Korea when the young man experimented with the Nikon 35mm manual system. He used his photography skills during his 32 years at the Allstate Insurance Company as an important aspect of the investigation and documentation in handling complex claim handling issues.
Over the ten years since leaving Allstate, Wennerstrom ran Verification Services, Inc., a private investigation firm. As a photographer in providing surveillance documentation, he expanded his knowledge in long lens photography covering subjects from distances of up to one-half mile.
Wennerstrom operates Strom Boat Works and Cabinet Shop, an occupation that allows him free time to do recreational and creative photography. His work recently received a second place and an honorable mention at the Smith Mountain Arts Council photography contest. Some of his art can be seen in magazines such as “Your Free Guide to Bedford Surrounding Areas” and “Your Free Guide to Smith Mountain Lake.”
With his skills in woodworking, he has begun designing and customizing frames for the Rainbowtree Gallery and personally mattes and frames all of his own photographic works.
Wennerstrom also teaches photography courses at all of the Bedford Library System locations and is expanding his interests in composition which is reflected in his renderings at the CVCC Bedford Center exhibition.
