History Day Opens to Hundreds of Middle/High School Students

Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/ -- The threat of inclement weather did not dampen the spirits of those who attended the District One, 2008 National History Day at Central Virginia Community College last Saturday, February 23. Hundreds of students from nine area school districts competed for ribbons and an opportunity to advance to the state finals to be held in Williamsburg.

In separate divisions, middle and high school students submitted essays, website designs, exhibits, documentaries, and performances centered on this year’s National History Day theme, “Conflict and Compromise.” The top three finishers were recognized and awarded ribbons at the College’s Student Center following the judging.
