Central Virginia Community College
CVCC/U.Va. to enroll Second Class of Future Engineers
Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/ -- Central Virginia Community College will hold an open house on Monday, May 12, for students interested in entering into the four-year CVCC/U.Va. Engineering Program. Attendees will receive a Program overview that includes new scholarship opportunities and expanded curricula. Corporate sponsors will be on hand to discuss work/study openings to include tuition cost-cutting packages and future full time employment.
The four-year Engineering Program began in 2007 as a remedy to the burgeoning demand for engineers in Central Virginia. The University of Virginias Department of Engineering, CVCCs Workforce Development, and nuclear giant AREVA NP forged an agreement that would allow qualified engineering students graduating from the Community College an opportunity to earn bachelor degrees from U.Va. through studies conducted in Lynchburg.
Due to its success, the Program has expanded its curricula to include a discipline in wireless technology in addition to mechanical, electrical, and material science course studies.
The open house will be held inside Merritt Halls Multi-purpose Room on the main campus in Lynchburg from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Anyone interested in pursuing a four-year degree in the field of engineering is encouraged to attend.
For further information on the open house, contact Marc Zoccola at (434) 832-7804.
