Culinary Arts Building Groundbreaking

 

Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/11/05/09 – Central Virginia Community College held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Culinary Arts Building at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 5. The new facility will be located between Merritt Hall and Amherst Hall. Senator Steve Newman, Mr. Martin Giudice, Chair of the CVCC Local Advisory Board, and Dr. Darrel Staat, President of CVCC, offered remarks.

 

The construction of the new facility was made possible by a $1.4 million General Assembly appropriation, along with $230,000 from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification Commission for faculty salary and instructional equipment and additional funds for site preparation from Region 2000 localities. The over 4,000 square-foot brick and glass building has been designed by SFCS Architects of Roanoke, Virginia.

 

The CVCC Culinary Arts building will open to students in the 2010 fall semester.

 

Following the groundbreaking ceremonies, there was reception in the President’s Conference Room in Appomattox Hall.
