CVCC Summer Career Academies Online Registration Begins March 15

 

Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/3/8/10– Online registration for the CVCC Summer Career Academies will begin on Monday, March 15. During the first week of August, Central Virginia Community College, in alliance with the Region 2000 Tech Prep Consortium and the Region 2000 Partnership, will be conducting high-technology career academies for local middle and high school students. This is the twelfth year CVCC has offered these dynamic and hands-on educational adventures.

 

This summer, there will be twenty-two career academies for middle and high school students, ranging from Aviation Technology to Nuclear Technology, as well as unique and interesting opportunities to learn Culinary Arts and Crime Scene Investigation. This program seeks to inspire students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) by offering them opportunities to experience hands-on applications in a variety of fields. High school students have four advanced academies to choose from, including Advanced Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Construction Technology, and Wireless Technologies.

 

The academies are held at various locations in the area, including the main CVCC campus and CVCC centers, Liberty University, Areva-NP, Inc., CMC Rebar, and other locations appropriate for the content of the programs.
