Merritt Hall Exhibit Showcases Photography Certificate Program
Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/4/26/10 Still Point, the May/June art exhibition at Merritt Hall will feature the work of advanced and graduating students in the Photography Certificate Program at Central Virginia Community College. Participating photographers include Joshua Cahow, Debbie Scott, Mark East, Dick Frisbee, Rachael Hall, Zack Hall, Tabitha McCorkle, Julie Stalnaker, Stefany Tyree, Kathryn Viar, and Ben Villarreal.
The photographers are all students of John Black, retired CVCC art and photographer professor, who continues to teach advanced photography courses and has selected and organized his students work for the exhibition.
The CVCC Career Studies Certificate program in Photography provides a broad foundation for individuals interested in a career in photography, as well as an opportunity for those individuals interested in photography as an avocation to expand their horizons. The intent of the program is to balance technical competence with expressive concerns in order to free the individual to find his or her own photographic vision.
The work in this exhibition is primarily gelatin silver and alternative process,
and features some digital work, as well. The opening reception will be held
Friday, May 7th, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is free and open to
the public. The photographs will be exhibited until the end of June.
The exhibit is sponsored by the CVCC Cultural and International Events Committee.
