New College Geometry Class Offered Fall 2010

/Media Release/5/21/10 Central Virginia Community College will offer a new
geometry class this fall. CVCC Mathematics Professor Jim Atkinson has developed
the course, MTH 250, College Geometry. The class is intended primarily for those
seeking a secondary teaching endorsement in mathematics. The 3-credit hour
course will provide an axiomatic development of topics in absolute, Euclidean,
and non-Euclidean geometry. Lectures will be made available online. The class
will meet on campus each Tuesday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. for help sessions or exams.
Calculus 2 (MTH 174) is a prerequisite.
