Assistance with Financial Aid Forms for all College-Bound

Students offered on Super Saturday

Lynchburg, VA / 1/14/11 – On Saturday, February 5, Central Virginia Community College and the Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (VASFAA) will host Super Saturday, an annual event that invites college-bound students in the area to receive FREE one-on-one assistance in completing the FAFSA, a financial aid form required by colleges, universities, and private career schools to qualify for federal grants and loans.

The event will be held at CVCC, Merritt Hall from 10 a.m. until Noon. Free Lunch will be provided. The event will include a financial aid workshop followed by a questions and answer session. It is open to parents and students of all grade levels, as well as adult students. Computers will be available, and financial aid professionals will be onsite to offer expert assistance.  There will also be counselors from four-year colleges available to assist with admissions and application questions.  Once the student leaves the event, he/she will have initiated the financial aid process for any college he/she is interested in attending and will have met the priority filing date for most Virginia colleges.   

The VASFAA will award a $100 book scholarship at each Super Saturday site in the state, to be used at the winner’s college of choice.

Items students/parents must bring to Super Saturday:

• U.S. Department of Education Personal Identification Number (PIN)

Please register before January 31, 2011 at www.pin.ed.gov.  At least one parent must have a PIN, if you are required to provide parent information on the FAFSA.

• Social Security Numbers Yours, and your parent’s numbers, if you are providing parent information.

• Driver’s license, if you have one.

• Alien Registration Number, if you are not a U.S. Citizen.

• 2010 1040/1040A/1040EZ Federal Tax Returns or 2010 Non-Taxable Information, including W-2 for yourself, your spouse, if married, and for your parents if you are providing parent information. If you have not yet filed a 2010 return, bring a copy of your 2010 year-end pay stub.

• Your family’s untaxed income records: Social Security, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, welfare, worker’s compensation, child support received, veteran’s benefits records.

• Your family’s current bank statements

• Your family’s business and investment records: current business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond, and other investment records
