CVCC 2011 Commencement Exercises
Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/05/03/11 - Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) will conduct its forty-third commencement exercise honoring the graduating class of 2011. The program will take place at The Vines Center on the campus of Liberty University, May 12, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. CVCC President, Dr. John S. Capps will preside over the ceremonies.
CVCC will graduate 685 students, with 325 of those students accepting their diplomas and certificates at the graduation ceremony.
Sen. Stephen D. Newman will be presented the Outstanding Alumnus Award for 2011. Sen. Newman serves in the Virginia State Senate of the Virginia General Assembly representing the people of the 23rd District. He will be the keynote speaker following an introduction by CVCC Student Government President, David Reaves.
Dr. Geoffrey Hicks, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Services, will give the preliminary introductions and designate honor graduate, Jeannie Reid, will deliver the student address.
CVCC will introduce the 2011 Faculty Emeriti, Mr. William Sandidge and Ms. Katherine Barringer (posthumously), and the 2011 Staff Emeritus, Ms. Eleanor Hernandez. Dr. Capps will announce the recipient of the 2011 Faculty Award.
