Dr. Robert L. Bashore Appointed to CVCC Local Advisory Board
Lynchburg, VA /Media Release/9/28/11 – Dr. Robert L. Bashore of Forest has been appointed by the Bedford County Board of Supervisors to serve as a member of the Central Virginia Community College Local Advisory Board. He will fill the expired term of Mr. Martin Giudice. Members of the board are selected from the four counties in Region 2000 and from the cities of Lynchburg and Bedford.
Dr. Robert L. Bashore served at Central Virginia Community College from 1970 until 2001, as a counselor, Director of Financial Aid, Director of Admissions, and Dean of Student Services. He helped establish the CVCC Educational Foundation, Inc. and served as its executive director for ten years. Dr. Bashore co-chaired and chaired numerous Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and State Council for Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV) committees, and has also served for sixteen years on the Campbell County School Board, nine years on the Bedford County Board of Supervisors, and five years on The Region 2000 Board. He is also a dedicated volunteer for over 35 years on the Blue Ridge Council Boy Scouts of America Board, with two years as president.
Dr. Bashore and his wife, Joy, established an endowed scholarship at CVCC to help pay tuition each year for a needy student at the college.
