Appomattox Center
The CVCC Appomattox Center offers day and evening programs in credit and non-credit
modes and specialized training in workforce development for business and industry.
Delivery systems include traditional classroom instruction as well as
Web-based/Internet courses, and Blackboard Collaborate*
(interactive television). The Appomattox Center, located in the Carver-Price
Educational Complex on Business 460, opened in 2007.
An academic advisor is on-site and available on an appointment basis to assist with
general academic advising as well as program planning and scheduling of classes.
The complete placement test is available at the Appomattox Center on an appointment
basis during the hours of operation. Students should call the Center to schedule an
appointment. Students are advised to take the English and math placement tests on
separate days. Allow 1.5 hours for the English test and 3 hours for the math test.
The computer lab is available to the public at times when no classes are scheduled
in the lab. Priority is given to CVCC students during these open times.
CVCC Appomattox Center hours are 8:00-5:00, Monday through Thursday and 8:00-2:00
on Friday (summer hours until 12:00 noon on Friday). The Center is open evenings
for scheduled classes and appointments. Phone: (434) 832-7200.
* Blackboard Collaborate courses are delivered live, real-time
(days/times established) using web-conferencing software, Bb Collaborate.
Faculty teaching these courses do not have students present with them - all
students are "remote." Students must attend on the main campus or at one of
the off-site centers and provide their own headset/mic to participate in class.
