Admission Application Procedures
Non-immigrants interested in becoming full-time students at CVCC should be aware that
filling out an application for admission does not automatically mean you are guaranteed
admission. F-1 students transferring from other U.S. colleges must have completed an
entire semester at the initial college before transferring to CVCC. Students seeking
enrollment as a part-time student at CVCC should refer to the guidelines for
Concurrent Enrollment.
Step #1: Review all admission requirements and procedures for non-immigrant prospective students; fill
out and submit the I-20 Information Request Form.
Step #2: Fill out the application for admission to the college either online or use the paper
application.
ATTENTION: Transfer students from a US college/university must
also submit the following official forms: copy of current I-20; copy of current I-94;
copy of current visa.
Step #3: Submit official copies with an English translation of all secondary school and university academic
records by the appropriate deadlines. Failure to meet deadlines can delay your admission to
the college. Fax and/or Xeroxed copies of official documents will not be acceptable.
ATTENTION: Transfer students from a US college/ university must
submit an official transcript from all US schools attended instead of secondary school information.
Step #4: Applicants must submit the completed Affidavit of Support ( I-134) with two current (no older
than six months) financial documents in order to demonstrate the ability to pay for all
educational expenses at the out-of-state tuition rates and personal expenses without
employment or financial aid. A letter from the sponsor's employer is also required to verify
employment status and yearly salary. Failure to provide this information as requested will
result in a delay. Fax and/or Xeroxed copies of official documents will not be acceptable.
Step #5: Applicants must submit proof of health insurance for one calendar year from the date your
program at CVCC begins. You may submit this proof in the form of an insurance card or letter
from your insurance carrier that documents the required coverage period. Fax and/or Xeroxed
copies of official documents will not be acceptable.
Step #6: Demonstrate that English is your primary native language, or proficiency in English. Non-
native speakers can demonstrate proficiency in one of the following ways: Fax and/or Xeroxed
copies of official documents will not be acceptable.
1. A score of 80 or better on the new TOEFL iBT
2. A score of 550 on the regular TOEFL combined with a TSE score of 40 or better.

Applicants who are transferring from U.S. educational institutions or who currently reside in
the U.S. and are eligible to change from valid USCIS status will be required to submit
additional documents (and in some cases, fees to USCIS).
F-1 students who enroll at CVCC must agree to comply with all federal immigration requirements
as explained on the back of their form I-20. The International Student Advisor will provide
complete information upon the student's arrival at the college.
F-1 students are required to report in person to the International Student Advisor no later
than 15 days after their program start date. The advisor will work out a schedule with the
student. To make an appointment, please call 434.832.7800 to schedule an appointment with

If you are a student transferring to CVCC from a local four year institution, please
schedule an interview with the foreign student advisor, Susan Rush at
