What Is Dual Enrollment
The dual enrollment program gives the student the opportunity to get a head start on
college credit while still in high school.
It allows the student to earn college credit toward a postsecondary diploma, certificate,
or degree at a Virginia public institution that will also count as credit toward a high
school diploma.
What Are The Advantages
High school and college credit is earned at the same time. Completing dual enrollment
courses while in high school can shorten the time required to earn a college degree.
Dual enrollment courses with an earned grade of “C” or higher will transfer to most
4-year colleges/universities.
Students take the courses at their own high school, thereby saving time and money.
Am I Eligible
Students who meet course prerequisites and are approved by their high school guidance
counselor are eligible.
What Classes Are Offered
Courses vary among high schools but typically include the following: biology, English,
and math. The technical centers offer a greater variety of classes. Please check with
your guidance counselor for the courses offered at your school.

Do I Have To Take The Placement Test
Yes. Unless your SAT scores meet the minimum requirements. (English 500; math 520)
If I Participate In The Dual Enrollment Program, Do I Have To Attend CVCC
No. Dual enrollment provides you with the flexibility of choice.
What Will It Cost
The tuition at CVCC is very affordable. Please see your school representative for
current tuition rates and payment procedures.
How Do I Withdraw From Class
After talking with your parents and teacher, your teacher completes the add/drop
form to withdraw you from the class.
How Do I Get A Transcript Of My Grades
The transcript request form is available online. There is no fee for the transcript.
