High School Dual Enrollment
Objective
- To be a leader in providing high school students opportunities to receive college
credits while completing secondary school requirements.
- Provide a wider range of course options for high school students in academic and
occupational-technical fields.
- Promote rigorous standards for college credit courses specifically in the areas
of content, student outcomes and assessment and faculty evaluation.
- Establish a formal mechanism for evaluating and improving the dual enrollment
program with local school divisions.
Central Virginia Community College offers a dual enrollment program committed to providing
local high school students with opportunities to complete college-level classes that will
also satisfy requirements for the completion of junior and senior high school courses.
The dual enrollment courses are college-level classes taught by high school teachers who
are fully credentialed to teach at the college level. Course content, academic standards
and college requirements are the same as those for any course offered on the CVCC campus.
Students interested in participating in the dual enrollment program offered at their high
school should contact their guidance counselor for specific requirements. Students must
complete a CVCC application, satisfy college admissions requirements, and have parental
permission to participate in the program.
For further information about the dual enrollment program offered through CVCC, students
should contact the Dual Enrollment Coordinator at
dualenrollment@cvcc.vccs.edu.
