Types of Aid Available
- Alumni Association Scholarship
Scholarship amount: Two-full tuition scholarships for one academic year. Must be a full-time student and have a parent who is a CVCC Alumnus and has completed one of the following: a degree, diploma, or certificate at CVCC; or a minimum of 15 semester hours in courses numbered 100 or above; or was a curricular student and completed 25 percent of the requirements toward a degree, diploma or certificate. Finalist will be required to interview with selection committee. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA while receiving the scholarship award. Deadline May 29.
- Alvin W. Singleton Scholarship
Scholarship amount: Full-tuition scholarship for one academic year. Preference will be given to applicants enrolled full-time and were employed by Intermet Foundry or their children. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA while receiving the award. Deadline May 1.
- Belvac Scholarship
Scholarship amount $500. Must enroll in Machine Tool curriculum and maintain satisfactory academic progress while receiving the scholarship assistance. Deadline May 1.
- Beverly W. and Hampton O. Powell Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship amount: $500 for one academic year. Applicants must reside in Altavista or a surrounding area plan to enroll at the CVCC Altavista Center. Recipient must have a GPA of 2.5 and maintain satisfactory academic progress while receiving the scholarship award. Deadline July 1.
- Chip Anderson Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship amount $500 for one academic year. Must be a resident of Amherst County with a high school GPA of 2.5. Returning students must maintain satisfactory academic progress while receiving the scholarship award. Deadline May 1.
- CVCC Honors Scholarships
Scholarship amount: Full-tuition scholarship for two academic years. Must be an entering freshman in upper 25 percent of high school graduating class. Based primarily on academic honors. Scholarships are offered to select graduates from each high school within CVCC's service area. See your high school guidance counselor if interested. Recipients must maintain a 3.5 GPA while receiving the scholarship award. Deadline March 31.
- Dr. Robert L. and Joy W. Bashore Scholarship
Scholarship amount: $750 per year. Must be a full-time, degree seeking student who has completed a minimum of 30 semester hours and earned a minimum of a 2.75 grade point average. Applicants must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and demonstrate financial need to qualify. Deadline May 1.
- Dr. William M. Reynolds, Professor Emeritus, Business Administration Scholarship
Scholarship amount: $500 for one academic year. Applicants must be full or part-time second year business or business related curriculum students and have a cumulated GPA of 2.5. Recommendations from CVCC business faculty and/or current employer are recommended. Recipient must maintain satisfactory academic progress while receiving the scholarship award. Deadline July 1.
- Emery Mayhew Scholarship
Scholarship amount $500. Must be a resident of Campbell County with a 2.5 GPA in high school and maintain satisfactory academic progress while enrolled at CVCC. Deadline May 1.
- Genworth Scholarship
Scholarship amount: One full-tuition scholarship to an entering freshman and one full-tuition scholarship to a returning student for one academic year. Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in the Information Systems Technology. Applicants must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0. Recipients must maintain a 3.2 GPA while receiving the award. Recipients are encouraged to apply for second year funding. Deadline May 1.
- Gloria Smith Scholarship
Scholarship amount: $250 per semester. Applicants are single parents in need of assistance to attend CVCC. Renewable. Recipients must have a 2.5 GPA and maintain satisfactory academic progress to renew the award. Deadline July 1.
- J. B. Drinkard Scholarship
Scholarship awards vary. Must be a resident of Appomattox County and have earned a 2.5 GPA from high school and maintain satisfactory academic progress while receiving the scholarship award. Deadline May 1.
- John E. Freese Scholarship
Scholarship amount: Three $500 awards for one academic year. Applicants must be full-time, sophomore students enrolled in the Administration of Justice curriculum. Applicants must have maintained a 3.0 GPA in freshman level Administration of Justice courses and a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress while receiving the scholarship award. Deadline May 1.
- Johnnie and Bettie Merritt Family Scholarship
Scholarship amount is $500. Must have a 2.5 high school GPA and maintain a 2.5 GPA while receiving the award. Deadline May 1.
- Martin and Ruth Webb Scholarship
Scholarship amount $500. Must be a resident of Appomattox County enrolled full or part time and exhibit academic achievement both in high school and while attending CVCC. Deadline May 1.
- Nationwide Insurance Scholarship
Scholarship amount: $500 per semester. Applicants are students entering the fi nancial/business curricula. Recipients must have a 2.5 GPA and maintain satisfactory academic progress to renew the award. Deadline July 1.
- R.R. Donnelley Scholarship
Endowment Scholarship amount: up to $1,500. Must be an entering freshman student enrolled full-time in one of the following curriculums: Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, Microcomputer Office Automation, or Machine Tool. Applicant must be a high school graduate from Central Virginia and have a 2.5 high school GPA. A CO-OP may be offered during sophomore year. Deadline May 1.
- Regina Ryan Scholarship
Scholarship amount: $250 per semester. Applicants are single parents in need of assistance to attend CVCC. Renewable. Recipients must have a 2.5 GPA and maintain satisfactory academic progress to renew the award. Deadline July 1.
- Rotary Scholarships: Academic-Year Ambassadorial Scholarships
This scholarship provides up to $26,000 for students to study in a foreign country for one academic year. There are no formal restrictions as to what students can study. Scholars have studied everything from public health to urban planning; therefore, the possibilities are limitless. The District deadline is June 30, but local clubs may require the applications earlier for their endorsement. Sons and daughters of Rotarians are not eligible. - Rotary Scholarships: Ambassadorial Cultural Scholarships
This scholarship provides funding ($12,000 for three months or $19,000 for six months) for students to pursue either three or six months of intensive language study and cultural immersion in another country. The District deadline is June 30, but local clubs may require the applications earlier for their endorsement. Sons and daughters of Rotarians are not eligible. - Stroobants Technology Scholarship
Scholarship amount varies. Must be an entering freshman student enrolled in the Machine Shop/Machine Tool curriculum. Applicant must be a high school graduate from Central Virginia and have a 2.5 high school GPA. Deadline May 1.
- Tyco Electronics Scholarship
Scholarship amount: Full-tuition scholarships for two academic years. This scholarship will also pay for textbooks and required classroom technical equipment. Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in the Associates of Applied Sciences Degree in Electronics Technology. Tyco will interview eligible candidates for final selection. Recipients may be offered part-time employment at Tyco while attending CVCC; with the possibility of full-time employment upon graduation. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress while receiving the scholarship award. Deadline July 1.
- Virginia Tobacco Indemnification Commission Scholarship
Scholarship amount: Full-tuition and fees paid to CVCC. Applicants must be allotment/quota holders identifi ed on the U.S. Department of Agriculture list and their immediate family members. Applicants must be enrolled in a curriculum. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress while receiving the scholarship award. See the Offi ce of Financial Aid Services at CVCC for an application. No deadline.
- Weyerhaeuser Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship amount: $500. Must be a full-time student enrolled in an Industrial related curriculum and have a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Applicant must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and demonstrate financial need to qualify. Deadline May 1.
