Instructions

Dear History Day Teachers and Participants,

We look forward to hosting History Day again and if you need driving directions or room maps, go to www.cvcc.vccs.edu/About/Maps/default.asp for more info. There will be an information table in the Student Center (Amherst Hall) on the day of the event should you need assistance.

Participating students should report directly to the rooms corresponding to the attached assignment list. For example, students registered in the senior group exhibit category should report directly to the multipurpose room in Merritt Hall. There is no need to register at the information desk. We will have helpers assigned to control the flow of set-up and direct students to overflow space if needed.

The college will open at 8:00 AM for you and the students to setup, and judging will commence at 8:30.

For those involved in the exhibit and documentary categories, please note: DO NOT break down/dismantle/pack-up your exhibit until the chief judge informs everyone that the judging is complete. Judges, broken into groups of two or three, will evaluate the exhibits and select their top choice. The judges will then assemble as a group, re-evaluate the exhibits, and select the winners. Therefore be sure you and your students DO NOT pack-up until the judging is complete. To do so will disqualify the exhibit. No exceptions.

We will provide a light lunch/refreshment at 10:45 in the student center.

Like last year, we have divided the awards ceremony into two parts: Junior Awards will begin at 11.15-11.30, Seniors at 11.30-12.00.

We will award prizes (where applicable) for first, second, third, and honorable mention, and we ask that all first and second place winners remain to pick up the state History Day registration package.

Please contact me if you have questions, and I wish all of you the best of luck,
