Award Details

Cougar Student Leadership Award
Through their leadership skills and initiative, these students have made a significant impact on the CVCC community throughout the past academic year. Nominees must demonstrate examples of outstanding service to others and within the community. Award recipients are selected based on their involvement and leadership in co-curricular activities, service in the community, involvement in professional, academic, and leadership development experiences, and the overall impact on campus life and learning for students.

Additional Award Criteria:

  • The student must be enrolled in good standing at Central VA Community College
  • The student must have a 2.0 GPA or higher
  • The student must have exhibited outstanding leadership qualities through contributions to the college during the previous academic year




Cougar Outstanding Advisor Award
This award honors an advisor of a student organization who has provided outstanding service and advisement to an organization.

Additional Award Criteria:

  • Student organization must have been properly registered group at CVCC
  • Recipient will have demonstrated outstanding support for and advisement of a student organization in pursuit of its goals
  • Individual must be an employee of CVCC in good standing.




Outstanding Community Service Award
Nominees have maintained academic excellence while committing their time, energy, and resources to making a difference by volunteering in the community. Demonstrating a passion to serve others is an important quality this nominee should possess.

Additional Award Criteria:

  • The student must be enrolled in good standing at Central VA Community College
  • The student must have a 2.0 GPA or higher




Rising Star/Emerging Leader Award
Awarded to student leaders who have shown tremendous growth over the past academic year. Awardees are emerging leaders in the CVCC community. Nominees should be respected by their peers and should demonstrate leadership potential at the college.

Additional Award Criteria:

  • The student must be enrolled in good standing at Central VA Community College
  • The student must have a 2.0 GPA or higher
