Request for Tutoring Services
- Visit your instructor first. He or she is your
primary source of information and assistance. The tutor can help you
review and work through trouble spots, but will not serve as a
substitute teacher. Your instructor will be notified that you are
receiving tutoring services.
- READ YOUR ASSIGNMENTS AND BEGIN YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE
coming to the Student Success Center. You will then be able to ask
specific questions and receive assistance in a timely manner. Tutors
are not allowed to help with pledged assignments.
- Bring you textbook, notes, graded quizzes and/or
tests, and disks on which to save computer work.
- Please Call to Cancel if You Have to Miss an Appointment.
We require a four hour notice to cancel an appointment. If you miss
more than two appointments without notice, your tutoring privileges
will be suspended. You will need your instructor to contact us to
have your privileges resumed. Missing one appointment after this
will cause you to LOSE your tutoring privileges for the remainder of
the semester. The tutors will wait 15 minutes for a scheduled
session - after this it is considered a missed appointment, a No
Show. If you know in advance that you are going to be late,
please advise the person who schedules the appointment or call us at
434-832-7827 as soon as you know.
- Inform the Coordinator if you have any concerns or
questions about the Center.
You must read your assignments and try to complete
your homework before coming to the Student Success Center. You will then
be able to ask specific questions about the material that you do not understand.
The SSC is a tutoring center, the tutors do not teach, they are here to
HELP you master the material.
