Tools for Success
Many students don't realize there are people and resources - such as
free tutoring and the
online career center -
available to help them succeed in their classes and career search.
Offered through the Counseling Center, SDV 100 Orientation is a one
credit class required of degree seeking students which teaches them
how to navigate the services, resources and policies of the college
as well as giving some tools to help them in the class room. Once
Orientation is over, the tips and tools for academic success are
still available to students through the links in the menu to the
right.
On the menu to the right, you will find a variety of links to strategies for
success in college. Many of these links come from the Study Guides and Strategies
website put together by Joseph Frank Landsberger of St. Paul, MN.
All of them are useful. You will also see a link to the college
catalog and student handbook in case you have a question about a
specific college policy.
Virginia Tech's Cook Counseling Center
has a variety of tools that you may find very useful such as time
management; improving your concentration and memory; strategies for
test taking. There is even a handbook for students with Attention
Deficient Disorder.
We want you to be informed and successful.
