FIRST Lego League |
|
Central Virginia Community College, in alliance with the Region 2000 Technology Council, will once again sponsor the Lynchburg Regional FIRST Lego League Tournament. This will be our 6th annual competition. This event introduces younger students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society. What FLL teams accomplish is nothing short of amazing. It's fun. It's exciting. And the skills they learn will last a lifetime.

2010 - Lynchburg FLL -Celebrating a GREAT Day! Close of the day, November 10, 2010.Through the 2011 Food Factor Challenge, students will examine the quality of food by finding ways to prevent food contamination. This competition is the culmination of many weeks of intense learning, hard work and excitement for these young people, their coaches, mentors, and parents. During the challenge season, team members, ages 9 - 14, will explore the topic of food safety and examine the possible points of contamination our food encounters - from exposure to insects and creatures, to unsterile processing and transportation, to unsanitary preparation and storage - then find ways to prevent or combat these contaminates. They will also study computer programming, mechanical design, problem solving and teamwork in this unique challenge that merges sports, science, education and team dynamics. Get ready for an exciting day as 32 teams compete and show off their skills and agility!
