Several regional companies and organizations participate in summer internships. Up to 50 - 75 summer jobs for 17, 18, and 19 year olds are available throughout the region. The most ideal situation would be for the youth’s interest and high school experiences to coincide with the job (which may or may not always occur). Student participants are recruited through regional high schools, the Youth Works Program (WIB), and Virginia's Region 2000 Technology Council (Tech Prep). Participating organizations will provide employment opportunities for students for 4-6 weeks. Actual job experience will be in a wide variety of areas.
